Public Transportation
The light-rail system (lines U7 and U8) links Ostfildern to Stuttgart. Thus, the city has a direct connection to the regional rail-transportation network.
From the light-rail terminus in Nellingen, it takes just under 30 minutes to reach the central train station in Stuttgart. The ride from Scharnhauser Park or Ruit is even shorter. The operating times of the U8 reflect the needs of commuters traveling between the eastern and western edges of the Filder area (and link Ostfildern with the Stuttgart neighborhoods of Degerloch, Möhringen and Vaihingen).
The Messe Stuttgart trade show center and the Stuttgart Airport can be reached conveniently from Ostfildern, via the bus line # 122. The bus starts out in Esslingen, and passes through the Ostfildern neighborhoods of Scharnhauser Park and Scharnhausen. Riders can transfer from the bus to a light-rail train at two stops: Kreuzbrunnen and Scharnhauser Park.
